Een ACSC rebreather is een uiterst gecompliceerde rebreather qua techniek. Het systeem is een passief geregelde semi closed rebreather waarbij geen sprake is van continue injectie (ofwel constante massa injectie) maar van een zogenaamde "on demand" regeling. D.w.z. dat de rebreather werkt op basis van de behoefte aan ademgas van de duiker. Dit type rebreather kan dus zonder regelelektronica, geheel mechanisch "on demand" gas leveren. Dit principe is door AGA met succes in een rebreather toegepast. Werking: doordat de duiker in een ademkring ademt zal een contralong Balg (B1) in- en uitzetten zoals door de pijl wordt aangegeven. Door de beweging van de balg zal een as (S1) een tandwiel (G1) laten draaien. Het tandwiel (G1) grijpt in een ander tandwiel (G2) en zorgt voor de rotatie van een tweede as (S2). Door de rotatie van de as (S2) zal een nok (C1) de klep V1 openen. Vanuit de nitrox cilinder (A) stroomt gas via klep V1 naar de buffer (actuator) (A1). Zodra de as (S2) verder draait zal klep V1 sluiten en klep V2 door de nok (C2) worden geopend. Zodra de klep (V2) is geopend zal het gas uit de buffer (A1) naar de contrabalg B1 vloeien. De gasdruk van de eerste trap wordt op ca 10 bar boven de omgevingsdruk gehouden. Het resultaat is dat de hoeveelheid gas die wordt toegevoerd naar de adembalg een fractie is van het volume van een ademteug. De hoeveelheid is omgekeerd evenredig met de druktoename bij vergrotende diepte (m.a.w: hoe dieper, hoe minder gas wordt toegevoerd). |

06-10-03; Janwillem;The ACOC is mainly built on the
physiologic fact that a human can (during a limited period of about 5
minutes) use a gas mixture with an Oxygen concentration of a medium partial
pressure of 1,5 ata. Means that a closed circuit apparatus can start with a
high concentration and after a few breaths when the concentration gets down
switch over to an open circuit and dumping of the used gas. One of the
problems with this kind of system is the losing of buoyancy during the
dumping period. I solved this with a double diaphragm in the top cylinder on
the picture. The dumped gas was distributed to the spacemen between the
diaphragms. When the main spacemen in the breathing bellows was empty then
the fresh gas dosage started. The inner (main) bellows then squeezed out the
old used breathing gas to ambient water. The principle of using Nitro in
high concentration was from a patent from a Finnish doctor. Lindstrom was
he’s name if I remember correctly. Also professor Claes Lundgren from Lund
